Android Auto
Android Auto games turn your car's infotainment screen into a parked gaming lounge once you install the Android Auto app on your phone. Pair the phone to the head unit via USB cable or wireless projection, browse the head-unit display's launcher, and tap a tile — or pair a Bluetooth controller for arcade and racing games that play better with controls.
Toggle the panels to compare touchscreen and gamepad play. Every Android Auto-compatible game lists the modes it supports on its tile.
Most Android Auto games support direct tap and swipe input on the infotainment touchscreen. You can launch and play without pairing any Bluetooth accessory.
Follow the seven steps below from Park to launch. Stop once the game you picked is on the head-unit display.
Park the car or sit in the passenger seat before launching any Android Auto game. The head unit only allows gameplay while the transmission is in Park, which also keeps the infotainment screen steady for touchscreen taps and gamepad input.
Pair your phone with the head unit over Bluetooth, then open the Android Auto app on the phone itself. This is where you configure wireless projection, decide which apps appear on the infotainment screen, and update notification permissions.
Plug a USB cable into the head unit or enable wireless projection from the Android Auto app on the phone. USB keeps the phone powered and gives the cleanest signal, while wireless projection is convenient for short parked sessions when the cable is not at hand.
Tap the Android Auto launcher on the head-unit display and wait for the infotainment screen to mirror your phone app grid. Most head units show a small Android Auto icon in the bottom dock once the USB or wireless projection link is established.
Browse the Android Auto app grid on the infotainment screen and tap any game tile. The game opens full-screen on the head unit while your phone retains menus, typing, and notification handling. Most Android Auto tiles group games under a dedicated row.
Use the infotainment touchscreen on the head unit for tap and swipe input on Android Auto games. Most puzzle, arcade, and party titles work fully through tap input without pairing any Bluetooth accessory, and you can swipe home to return to the launcher.
Pair a Bluetooth gamepad while the car is in park for controller pairing. Hold the gamepad pairing button until the LED flashes rapidly, then pair it from the head-unit Bluetooth settings rather than from your phone. The infotainment screen keeps launcher and typing duties while you play.
If a launch fails or a gamepad refuses to pair, work through these checks before restarting the head-unit display.
If a game tile never appears on the infotainment screen, open the Android Auto app on the phone and confirm the title is enabled under Customize launcher. Some phones also gate USB projection behind a one-time trust prompt — tap Allow each time the head unit asks.
When the Android Auto session drops mid-game, the USB or wireless projection link usually failed. Reseat the USB cable, toggle airplane mode on the phone, and re-launch Android Auto on the infotainment screen. A flaky USB hub on older head units is the most common cause.
If a controller refuses to pair, hold its pairing button until the LED flashes rapidly and try again from the head-unit Bluetooth settings. Wireless interference and a low gamepad battery both cause Android Auto pairing failures, so connect the gamepad to power or move other Bluetooth devices away.
