Apple CarPlay
Apple CarPlay turns your car's infotainment screen into a library of iPhone apps you can launch from a parked cabin. Pair your iPhone over Bluetooth or plug it in with a USB cable, open CarPlay on the head-unit screen, tap a game from the CarPlay app grid, and optionally pair a Bluetooth gamepad for racing and arcade-action titles that play better with controls.
Toggle the panels to compare touchscreen and gamepad play. Every CarPlay-compatible game lists the modes it supports on its tile.
Most CarPlay games support direct tap and swipe input on the infotainment touchscreen. You can launch and play without pairing any accessory.
Follow the seven steps below from Park to launch. Stop once the game you picked is on the CarPlay infotainment screen.
Apple blocks CarPlay gameplay on the driver display while the car is in Drive, so start your session from Park or as a passenger. This also keeps the infotainment screen steady for touchscreen and gamepad play.
Connect your iPhone to the car over Bluetooth or plug it into a USB port. A USB cable keeps the phone powered during long sessions and gives CarPlay the most stable link on older head units.
On the head-unit home screen, tap the CarPlay icon to mirror your iPhone. The CarPlay app grid replaces the native infotainment menu while a session is active.
Browse the CarPlay home screen, tap the tile for the game you want, and the app opens full screen on the infotainment. Some apps need the iPhone unlocked the first time you launch them.
Most CarPlay games support direct tap and swipe input on the infotainment touchscreen. You can launch and play without pairing any Bluetooth accessory — just tap, swipe, and tilt as the game instructs.
Pair an Xbox, PlayStation, or Logitech gamepad while the car is parked. Hold the gamepad in pairing mode (LED blinking), then pair it through iPhone Settings → Bluetooth, not directly inside CarPlay.
When you are finished, close the game from the CarPlay app switcher, disconnect the gamepad from iPhone Settings if you paired one, and optionally unplug the USB cable for a full power-down.
If a launch fails or a gamepad refuses to pair, work through these checks before restarting the CarPlay session.
Confirm the gamepad is in pairing mode (LED blinking steadily, not solid). Pair it through iPhone Settings → Bluetooth rather than directly inside CarPlay, and check that iOS hasn't blocked the accessory under Settings → General → CarPlay → your car.
Most often a Use CarPlay toggle is off — open iOS Settings → General → CarPlay → your car and switch every listed app on. Then restart the infotainment, relaunch CarPlay, and the tile should reappear.
Wireless interference and a low gamepad battery both cause lag. Move phones and other Bluetooth devices away from the infotainment screen, swap in fresh batteries or connect the gamepad to power, or step closer to the car / plug the iPhone in over USB to keep the Bluetooth link clean.
